How to Calculate Concrete for Steps
Pouring concrete steps requires precise calculations to ensure the stairs are safe, meet building codes, and have sufficient structural support. The calculation must account for the step risers, tread runs, and the structural landing or footing beneath the stairs.
To calculate the concrete volume for a set of steps, split the structure into two main components: the steps themselves and the footing beneath them. The volume of the steps is calculated as a series of rectangular blocks of increasing height:
